Happiness and Stress
HappiCraft.com is about Happiness. Your Happiness and stress.

The first question you would like to ask is What is Happiness? You might
be able to find a million definitions, because happiness is the main
objective of all human endeavours. There are several indexes of happiness
as well. Most of them have looked at it from the point of view of happy
assets or the things that you would like to have around you to make your
life more comfortable. They make an attempt to measure happiness in
countries such as Bhutan, and is called  Gross National Happiness, which
    differs from the individual happiness.
For you and for me, Happiness has many personal ramifications and is very
complex. It all depends on how you wish to define happiness.

    Definitions of Happiness

  • "Happiness is wealth supreme—Lord Gautama Buddha" www.
    HappiCraft.com
  • Happiness is the ultimate objective of all human endeavors, and is
the result of a series of positive and strategic decisions taken by you
during your life time. It is a self-made castle designed by you, for you
    to live in.--Nihal S. Dissanayake
  • "Happiness is the dividend that accrues to you  for your  investments,
in words, thoughts or in deeds to make others happy.—www.

  • "Happiness is only an attitude of mind. and changes with your value
    structure." www.happicratft.com

    Can I Be Happy?
What ever the definition that you select as the one that fits you best, you
would also like to ask another question. Where does Happiness come  in,
in  a world where my family is  pestered with uncontrollable
embarrassments without giving us any notice?
  • We fall sick, without  any notice.
  • We become hungry and thirsty. It is very difficult to pass even a few
hours without a drink or some thing to fill the stomach.
  • We die, leaving behind everything hat we have earned and saved.
  • We have to depart  company with the friends and relatives and
things we love, such as our houses and vehicles.
  • We have to tolerate and live with people who are always fighting with
    us.
  • We find it difficult to get the things we want such as a disease-free,
death-free, trouble-free life, without having to eat and drink and wear
well to keep pace with the others.
  • Feeding the insatiable monsters that we have inherited with our birth.
These monsters, sometimes defined as institutions because of the
importance that they play in our lives. They are the eyes, the ears,
the nose, the tongue and the body.
  • We don't have sufficient funds to keep us going as we wish.

This is called the basket of suffering [stress]. You can add one hundred
more things so that it will keep on filling without you being able to control it.
Therefore the fillings will keep on adding to your sufferings and stress
because you have to maintain and protect them.

Where is the equilibrium? It is necessary for us to understand how
    happiness differs from suffering.

What is the difference between happiness and stress?

Happiness is positive. It is always the result of a definite and a strategic
approach to life; it is a castle built by you for you to live in, in accordance
with your tastes, preferences and  life styles. Strategic modifications can be
effected to the master plan at any time of your life. If necessary. Lessons
from the castles built during the Middle Ages with deep moats and strong
boundary walls could also be included at any time.

If good seeds are sown in fertile land, during the right seasons, you will
reap a bountiful harvest of happiness.

    Stress
Suffering is another word used as a synonym. Lord Buddha used the word
dukka, in his very first sermon and said that no body is immune to dukka
and no person can help you to save you from sickness, old age and death.
    That is suffering.
On the other hand suffering is eternal, and no one is immune to suffering. It
starts with your conception in the mother’s womb and ends up with your last
breath on your death bed. Suffering or stress is like the thick veil of
darkness that is enveloping the planet earth. It is removed temporarily,
when that part of the mother earth is facing the sun. After twelve hours or
so, the darkness returns. The wise men and women find sources of light to
illuminate their lives; but the unfortunate, live and die in the darkness.

    What is the way out?
Where do we strike the balance. The only solution lies in refining    the mind’
s culture. While it is difficult to eliminate suffering due to aging, sickness,
and death, it is possible to minimize suffering by harnessing your mind
    power
